I was reading this article about underwater nature gardening, where instead of setting up an aquarium with fish you set one up based on plants. I vaguely wondered if I could manage to not kill plants if they were underwater, since it looked really cool to me.

Then I read this:

"On the still-transitioning part of Fillmore Street, a few blocks away from the boutique wood-oven pizza parlor and the Marc Jacobs store, Aqua Forest Aquarium is the first shop in the United States to specialize in the style known as "nature aquarium" -"

interested in something new happening in the US, and whatdoyouknow - it's happening here. BTW, for years my sister told me that when looking for a gift for me, every time she found something she thought I'd really like, she'd look and it would be made/distributed from California.

OK I *know* this is an oversimplification, but I still believe that CA as a whole, too, is quicker to find and accept newer ideas in general.

Just sayin'.

I'm going a little wonky. I'm getting stuff done (including cleaning the apartment, OMG), and knitting, and work, and reading a nonfiction book (always needs more concentration for me). I'm having trouble sleeping though. And I swear, it feels like my brain is waiting for something to happen. Or maybe I'm waiting for my brain to do something. Which is damn strange for me to say, since it implies mind-body dualism, which I don't believe in. Some weird sort of mental detachment, no doubt. Like the detachment some victims of abuse feel from their bodies, but it's all in my head.
I wonder why?
Huh.
I think maybe I'm dissatisfied with my own brain. Any other theories will be happily considered, since my Clue Train ticket appears to be for short rides only.

GRAMMAR NOTIFICATIONS

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
  • "Party" is now acceptable as a verb. However, the phrase "So, do you girls like to party" is still prohibited and will be punished by a lack of getting laid in anything like the near future.
  • "Illegal" is an *adjective*. Anyone using it as a noun can and will be labeled "ignorant", "asshole", or both.
  • The use of "i-anything" is still curtailed.
New Terminology:
  • Twatweasel: term of endearment.
  • Crotchfruit: child or children.
  • Teal deer: from the acronym tl;dr, meaning a post or comment was too long; didn't read. A warning statement that what follows will be long and involved, and the reader (or listener) is being offered an opt-out option.
  • Birther (occasionally "birfer"): anyone who is still arguing that Barack Obama is not an American citizen.
Thank you for your cooperation.

"There's not a seething, bubbling hunger to see straight stars impersonating homosexuals," Medved told us. "I think they're just trying to generate controversy . . . They know that making Holmes and Watson homosexual will take away two-thirds of their box office. Who is going to want to see Downey Jr. and Law make out? I don't think it would be appealing to women."

BWAHAHAHA!! (wipes tears from eyes)
Wow, that was the best laugh I'd had in a looong time.

David Irving will be in San Francisco on the July 23rd, though they're not saying where. According to his site there will apparently be a buffet, in case you really want to try bulimia but aren't keen on sticking your finger down your own throat. I find the urge to vomit frequently occurs while attempting to listen to him.
I can't agree with those who say he shouldn't be allowed to speak, but I would like to see someone puke on him. There should be a "puking on in effigy".

http://jezebel.com/5296935/bacardi-ad-uses-misogyny-to-sell-alcohol-to-women
McCann Digital has teamed up with Bacardi Breezers to target their beverages to women, who “want to look amazing this summer” by accessorizing with “an ugly girlfriend.” ...Apparently, having them by your side will make you, “the most desirable piece of meat around the grill.”

Maybe I'll start drinking just so I can *not* drink Bacardi.

Wikipedia gives the following as being owned by Bacardi:

Bacardi has made several acquisitions to diversify away from the eponymous Bacardi rum brand. In 1992 Bacardi acquired martini & Rossi... In 1998, the company acquired Dewar’s scotch and Bombay Sapphire gin for $2 billion. Bacardi acquired the Cazadores tequila brand in 2001, and in 2004 purchased Grey Goose, a French made vodka, from Sidney Frank for $2 billion. In 2006, Bacardi purchased New Zealand vodka brand 42 Below. Other associated brands include the U.S. version of Havana Club, Drambuie Scotch whisky liqueur, Disaronno Amaretto, Eristoff vodka and B&B and Bénédictine liqueurs.

For I have invented Balsamic Vinegar-Strawberry Cookies.
Um, probably. I'm not entirely sure I can replicate it.
But I think strawberries are still in season, so I'll try again in a day or two.
I'll get back to you. Off to eat warm cookies now. :)

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/edmonton/story/2009/06/02/alberta-human-rights-school-gay-education-law.html

"Alberta legislators passed legislation early Tuesday that will give parents the option of pulling their children out of class when lessons on sex, religion or sexual orientation are being taught.

but here's the part that got me:

"There are thousands and thousands of parents, the silent majority, severely normal Albertans that are extremely happy with this legislation, that believe it's right to affirm the right of parents as being the primary educators of their children on these subjects," Anderson said during the debate.

"severely normal"?
I think this is a case where they ended up saying something more true than what they thought they were saying.

I hope that makes sense to anyone else.

More Gayvatars

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Wow a lot of people want their avatars "gayed up." I think this is good, because IMHO discrimination is made much easier if you don't know any of "those" people.

These are more that I did.
